Hitting your inbox a little later than usual. Today is a holiday, okay? I was sleeping in. Now that I’ve had a minute to filter through my email inbox, it’s really fun and cool to see how the current administration and Harvard are playing tennis with peoples’ rights. Also fun and cool to see people lose their human rights in general. “Big Beautiful Bill.” Idiocracy-sounding ass name. As much as I am for minimizing the global exploitation of the workforce, I am not thrilled about the future results of American-Made Technology. It’s not as if iPhones will increase in quality once made domestically, it just means that anyone who has been laid off in the past three months can slave away on an Apple assembly line. The future is so bright, isn’t it? Interesting time to get approved for a credit card with my preferred airline. “I love flying,” said the most deranged person.
People like this are the reason that we’re never going to progress as a society. I doubt anyone in Gaza asked that guy to harm innocent people in their name. Really sick shit. I don’t know if I truly am pro or anti violence, but I do know that harming innocent people who have nothing to do with the thing you’re mad about gets you nowhere. Learned that Based Billionaire Daddy Pritzker is Jewish. The anti-semitic alt-right are going to have a field day when Daddy J.B. joins the 2028 presidential race. Anyone remember the racist shit around Obama’s campaigns? Goddamn. In other local news, the “Just Cause” Ordinance was introduced into Chicago City Council on Wednesday morning. Ask me how you can get involved with the campaign! Send a letter to your legislators to pass the Fair Act in Illinois!
Before I dive into NHL Playoffs Updates, I found out that the Blackhawks got a new coach. Maybe they can talk about re-branding the team to something not racist? Idk. Oh, wait! Speaking of re-branding, it’s truly hilarious to me that the fucking Utah Hockey Club pivoted for the 2025 season to be the Utah Mammoths. Still think Soakers would’ve been a better mascot. Anyway, playoffs. Fuck everything, man. Dallas fell behind two games in a row, with Edmonton up 2-1. Tbh...kind of impartial to what happens in the western conference, as long as Florida doesn't win again. 2 years in a row? No thanks. They're up, in case y'all needed me to say that. Florida 3-0 Carolina. I really wouldn't be mad if Edmonton redeemed themselves from last playoff season and finally broke the 40 year streak of Canada not winning the championship. Would honestly be the greatest come back of all time. Do you know what we need right now? A hockey tale for the ages. We haven't had a good hockey movie in so long.

Free Renter Hack from Bingis: Spackle and white paint is much cheaper than whatever your landlord would pay for someone to do the job, which they’d send the bill for you to pay. Spend about $20 on spackle and paint, and you can beat your landlord to the Landlord Special.
Why is selling furniture so hard? When I start to get stressed and frustrated about the upcoming move, I remind myself of a few things. In one week, I will no longer have to worry about my washers breaking on a monthly basis and I won't have to worry about commuting on the red line during MLB season.
Guess who renewed their membership with the Democratic Socialists of America again? Don't tell anyone, please. I don't wanna talk about it. "We're using Whatsapp!" Hate this. Stop using Meta. And Google. Fuck. FUCK. Whatever. We couldn't move away from those products unless the greater body of national DSA moved to do so. Which would be a bigger campaign that I, frankly, don't have the energy to think about. I'll just avoid them as much as I can while being cooperative.
Taking the day off on the south side today.
Poetry
I’m tired, sore, and stressed about moving in like 5 days. I need to pack my books tomorrow. Idk if I’ll have a poem for y’all next week, but I’ll do my darnest. This week’s poem comes from a birthday gift given to me by a loyal subscriber last year. Stolen from poets.org: “Stephen Dunn was born on June 24, 1939, in Forest Hills, Queens. He graduated from Forest Hills High School in 1957. He earned a BA in history and English from Hofstra University, attended the New School Writing Workshops, and finished his MA in creative writing at Syracuse University. Dunn has worked as a professional basketball player, an advertising copywriter, and an editor, as well as a professor of creative writing. Dunn was the distinguished professor of creative writing at Richard Stockton College and lived in Frostburg, Maryland with his wife, the writer Barbara Hurd. He passed away on June 25, 2021.”
